Ronni Winter is a East London-based Art Director and Photographer with Caribbean and Indian heritage, specialising in advertising.
Through her work, she creates a visual gateway that delves into cultural narratives, exploring concepts, values, and the rich diversity of her heritage and beyond.
My inspiration comes from…
People being people in their purest form.Places being places as they are.I like my work to hold a sense of mystery.
Not revealing everything or including abstract textures I believe encourages us to decide how we want to interpret it for ourselves and make that message resonate with our own lives.
I appreciate symbols and shapes. Almost like what the visuals represent on a tarot card. I value when an image prompts a thought or allows you to journey through something alone.
The Story…
Series of photographic portraiture, taken in Senegal and London , delves into the use of harsh shadows over her subjects' facial features, a technique that invites reflection on the complexities of racial identity.
By using dramatic lighting, she emphasises the contrasts and contours of the face, symbolising the way lights and darks have framed our perceptions of race, privilege, and marginalisation.
This visual approach evokes a dialogue about visibility, identity, and the ways in which cultural narratives shape our understanding of the past and present.
A Hidden Hero to Highlight…
Jade Newton Gardener is a true hero within our community.
She serves as the Youth wellbeing and development coordinator for Fully Focused Productions and has wholeheartedly dedicated herself to supporting others—both in their professional careers and personal lives.
In addition to being a devoted mother to two wonderful children, Jade is also a nurturing and guiding presence for those she mentors and supports.
She is a passionate advocate for the importance of play, which is reflected in her approach to wellbeing strategies.
In the world of Film and TV, the importance of stable mental health and preparation before going on set is often overlooked, despite its significant impact on our day and overall performance.
However, Jade is always there to ensure we are mentally and emotionally prepared for the challenges of the industry. Thanks to her support, we are able to give our very best.
